Back in 1970 27-year-old singer, Janis Joplin died due to an accidental heroin overdose.  Ms. Joplin was discovered in her Los Angeles hotel room after she failed to appear at a recording session for her upcoming album that would be her greatest success.

Ms. Joplin is famous for tunes such as, “Me and Bobby McGee,” Piece Of My Heart," "Get It While You Can" and "Mercedes Benz."

Future President, Rutherford B. Hayes is born

Back in 1822, Delaware, OH, welcomed the birth of the future 19th President of the U.S,Rutherford B. Hayes.

President Haynes was known to be a man of principles and good manners, in fact he was nicknamed, “Old Granny,” due to his tea-totaling mannerisms obtained from attending private schools.  President Hayes would serve only one term in office from 1877 to 1881 and presided over the conclusion of the post-Civil War Reconstruction.
