Back in 1975, singer, songwriter, Bruce Springsteen’s single, “Born to Run,” became his first top-40 hit.

The Long Branch, NJ native music impressed music critics.  According to history.com,

In 1974, a Rolling Stoneeditor named Jon Landau, writing in Boston's Real Paper bestowed this now-famous praise upon the Boss: "I saw rock and roll's future and its name is Bruce Springsteen." One year later, Landau would co-produce Springsteen's third album and eventually take over management of his career.”

Mr. Springsteen’s music career is still popular with his sell-out concerts.

Former President Carter receive Nobel Peace Prize 

Back in 2002, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to former President, Jimmy Carter.  Mr. Carter was supportive in the peace agreements between Egypt and Israel in 1978.

Mr. Carter was the fourth President to receive this award.  He preceded Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. President Obama accepted this award in 2009.

 

 

Future President Clinton marries Future Secretary of State Rodham

Back in 1975, Little Rock Arkansas was the setting of the wedding of William Jefferson Clinton and Hillary Rodham.  Clinton and Rodham met while students at Yale University School of Law and while working on the 1972 Presidential campaign of George McGovern.

A few years later in 1978, Clinton would become Arkansas Governor and in 1992 would become President of the U.S.

Ms. Rodham would become the first lady of the White House, U.S. Senator of New York and now, Secretary of State. 

The Clintons have one child, Chelsea who is 31.

 

 

Lorne Michael’s Saturday Night Live premieres on NBC

Back in 1975, a late night comedy sketch show would become a televisions staple, “Saturday Night Live.”  This NBC 90-minute program featured comedians who became household names and for some, superstar status in Hollywood films.  Familiar last names of these comedians include, Belushi, Akyroyd, Curtain, Murphy, Farrell, Fey, Sandler, Fallon, Wiig and others.
