“Singing Cowboy,” Actor, Gene Autry is born - This Day in History – Sept 29th

Back in 1907, the singing cowboy and actor Gene Autry was born.  Mr. Autry’s birth name is Orvon Grover Autry born in Tioga, TX.  Mr. Autry would become famous with playing the hero cowboy with the white hat helping those in need while singing a song or to.  He is known for singing and writing tunes such as “That Silver-Haired Daddy Of Mine," "Back In The Saddle Again," and recognizable Christmas tunes such as, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

Stacey Allison is first woman to climb Everest

Back in 1988, Stacey Allison from Portland, OR became the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest.  Ms. Allison reached the highest point on the earth by climbing this mountain’s peak, which is 29,035 feet above sea level.
