Back in 1764, the future 2nd President of the U.S. married his future first lady, Abigail Smith.
This couple would correspond by letters if there were long absences due to President Adam’s duties. For example, Abigal wrote her husband a letter to remind he husband to be fair to women as well.
According to history.com, “While Adams was (in Philadelphia) attending the first Continental Congress in 1774, Abigail wrote to him to "remember the ladies" when he and his revolutionary cohorts began drafting new laws for the fledgling nation. She asserted that "all men would be tyrants if they could" and pointed out that male Patriots who were fighting British tyranny would appear hypocritical if they should disregard the rights of half the population, the country's women, when drafting a constitution. Abigail warned "if particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice, or representation.”

John Adams served one term in the White House before losing to Thomas Jefferson in the next election (1797 – 1801).
His son, John Quincy Adams would become the sixth President of The United States, serving one term after winning in a conentious three way race with Henry Clay and Andrew Jackson.

According to history.com, “The couple subsequently returned to their home in Quincy, Massachusetts, where Adams spent his last years writing his memoirs.
Abigail Adams died in 1818 at the age of 73. Her grandson was the first to publish some of her letters 30 years later.
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826.
HBO produced a documentary miniseries based on the Adams biography by David McCullough that tells the story of how Adams became a reluctant but dedicated founding father of the United States and the important role Abigail played in his life and political thinking.

Pablo Picasso, one of the most significant and well renowned artists of the 20th century was born on this day, back in 1881. Mr. Picasso was born in Malagia, Spain, the son of a professor of drawing. This artist would create over 50,000 sculptures, painting, drawings, engravings and ceramics over 80 of his 91 years before he passed away in 1973.
