Voyager makes first nonstop flight around the world

Back in 1986, the experimental aircraft called, “Voyager,” set the record of the first non-stop flight around the globe in nine days. The vessel was piloted by Americans Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager, which flew 25,012 miles around the earth without any government financial support.
According to history.com, “Voyager was made mostly of plastic and stiffened paper and carried more than three times its weight in fuel when it took off from Edwards Air Force Base on December 14. Voyager is on permanent display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.”

This movie, that was called, “Philadelphia,” starred Tom Hanks along with his co-star, Denzel Washington. Tom Hanks won his first Best Actor Oscar for his role of Andrew Beckett.
