Conestoga Boys Tennis Team Defeats Marple Newtown

Pioneer's Varsity tennis team sweeps Marple Newtown in 7-0 win

Undeterred by blustery winds and temperatures hovering in the mid-40s, the Conestoga Boys Tennis team swept Marple Newtown High School 7-0 in Conestoga’s first match of the season April 5.

The Conestoga team overpowered the Marple Newtown team, giving up only 11 games (84-11) in the home match held at the Upper Main Line YMCA.

In singles play, Conestoga’s Ahmed Aboseada defeated Marple Newtown’s Jonathan Noble 6-3, 6-3. Conestoga’s Matt Walton prevailed over Marple Newtown’s Josh Noble 6-2, 6-0, and Conestoga’s Peter Auslander overcame Cade Snyder, 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles play, Conestoga’s Stephen Le and Andy Mei defeated Marple Newtown’s Tom Devinney and David Li 6-0, 6-0. Sam Weintraub and Jack Ginter gave up only one game in their match against Billy May and Zach Michalski (6-1, 6-0), while Nishanth Kopri and Henry Danon defeated Marple Newtown’s Matt Reitano and Sean Cotrufello 6-0, 6-0. Conestoga’s John Auslander and Richard Yang also won easily over Marple Newtown’s Justin Kim and Stanley Ye, 6-0, 6-0.

On the heels of their first win, Conestoga takes on Radnor at Radnor Friday, April 6.
