Conestoga Students Seen Using Racial Slur On Social Media Video

WAYNE, PA – Two Conestoga High School students were seen on a social media video using racial a slur towards black people recently, according to the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District.

TESD Superintendent Dr. Richard Gusick said in a statement issued March 8 that the district learned of the video on March 7.

"T/E School District strongly condemns this and all forms of racist language. Although this video was not made during school, it has hurt and offended many in our school community," a statement from Gusick said. "This is unacceptable behavior, and it will not be tolerated."

According to the Daily Tar Heel at UNC Chapel Hill in North Carolina, one of the students in the video had committed to play field hockey at UNC Chapel Hill.

"This video does not include a UNC student," the university said in a statement. "We condemn the use of racial slurs in any setting."

"The school will investigate fully and apply consequences as appropriate," Gusick said in the statement. "T/E School District will continue to stand for respect and inclusion, with schools where all are welcomed to learn and grow."

The news came after a social media user tweeted a recording of the live Instagram video saying she goes to high school with the girls. That same user went on to say the students were suspended.

Even USA Field Hockey issued a statement via social media on the video.

"USA Field Hockey is aware of the discriminatory remark made by an athlete from one of our junior national teams and has suspended this individual as we review the situation further," the statement reads. "USA Field Hockey does not tolerate any behavior that is not inclusive and respectful to all."
