Press release from Give T/E:
Oct. 27, 2021
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Delaware and Chester Counties was selected as the recipient of the Give T/E Fall Give in September, and will receive about $15,000 from members, plus an exciting $5,000 funding match, for a total of about $20,000 contributed this fall. With this collective contribution, Give TE members will have given nearly $60,000 to local charities since the group was founded in March 2020.

Give T/E is a local organization created based on the model of the international Power of 100/Women Who Care alliance to give Tredyffrin/Easttown women a chance to make a huge charitable impact together in a short time. Each member commits to giving $100 twice a year to a local charity selected by majority vote at a one hour meeting. The group launched in March 2020, just before the pandemic shut down. Members give directly to selected charities, allowing for matching gifts and tax deductions. Give T/E sponsors cover the group’s operational and meeting costs so that 100% of members’ funds go to the charities. Said member Judy Reiter, “Give TE makes it extremely easy and the format is smart.”
This fall, more than 85 Give T/E members and guests gathered virtually on September 29. The group heard five minute presentations from CASA, Thorncroft Equestrian Center and Home of the Sparrow. In addition to supporting local charities with member donations, Give TE strives to increase members’ awareness of local charities operating in and/or serving Tredyffrin/Easttown. Board member Rachel Kramer noted, “I learned about three charities that I knew nothing about before our fall meeting.” Give TE members’ donations to CASA will enable the organization to hire additional Case Supervisors, who will be able to then supervise additional volunteers to advocate for more children. At the September 29 meeting, Give T/E members also learned about the impact of their contributions to Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin and Easttown (FLITE) in the spring: FLITE increased funding for its college scholarships provided to Conestoga graduates in need.

Thanks to a special matching grant program from The Richard M. Schulze Foundation, CASA will receive an additional $5,000 on top of the collective donation from Give TE members, bringing the total provided to CASA to nearly $20,000, the largest sum Give T/E has directed toward a local organization to date. Established by Best Buy founder Richard M. Schulze, the Richard M. Schulze Foundation is partnering with the Power of 100-Women Who Care alliance to give back to local communities near Best Buy stores. The Foundation has provided more than $1.5 million in matching grants to organizations chosen by Power of 100 chapters so far.
Give T/E is proud to announce that the organization has achieved its 2021goal to increase membership to at least 150 women. 153 women are Give TE members at this time, so that the group can provide more than $15,000 to their selected charity for each meeting, outside of any matching funds.
The next Give T/E meeting will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. For more information and to join, please visit: https://www.givete.org/join-give-te.html and follow Give T/E on Facebook.
