Do cameras in banks stop bank robberies?
Speed cameras only steal money from safe drivers.
Do cameras in banks stop bank robberies?
To All Pennsylvania Drivers and Pennsylvania Media Outlets:
The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia (BCGP) is pushing a bill that has little to nothing to do with bicycles, which is Speed Trap Bill SB 172, authorizing speed cameras on Roosevelt Boulevard and in highway work zones. This bill is not for safety, but to raise revenue. And what does it have to with bicycles?

Bicycles seldom use Roosevelt Boulevard, and they are not permitted on highways. So is BCGP pushing this bill as part of their anti-driver/anti-car agenda? The goal of Speed Trap Bill SB 172 is to eventually blanket every road in the entire state with speed cameras. Cameras can’t stop people from drag racing, cameras can't prevent accidents. Cameras only take pictures. Do cameras in banks stop bank robberies?
BCGP has added pedestrians to their anti-driver cause. Why not stick to bike safety issues? Why demonize cars and drivers? How many crashes are the result of illegal or unwise things that bicyclists do? 70% of pedestrian fatalities are the pedestrian’s own fault, not some driver's fault.

Setting low speed limits and ticketing barely over them will not improve safety. Speed cameras are prone to a high percentage of errors. This is all to get your money.
The traffic ticket industry relies on people not having enough time to fight their tickets. There are no meaningful appeal rights in Speed Trap Bill SB 172; people can go to an administrative hearing far from their home, at great inconvenience, but they have no rights.
Contact your state senator, state representative, and the governor and tell them to oppose Speed Trap Bill SB 172. Thank you.
Sincerely,
