Doubling down on enforcement

Speed Trap Bill SB 607, RADAR for municipal police, is not for safety. It is for M-O-N-E-Y. Tell Rep. Shusterman to vote NO on SB 607

*Note to journalists and media outlets: the stories on RADAR and speed enforcement are out of balance, and I offer to help. I can talk about the story topic, as well as other issues related to driving. Thank you.

Pennsylvania zealously enforces speed limits to “improve traffic safety.” Conclusive evidence proves otherwise. Exceeding posted speed limits causes only 1% of all crashes, yet “speeding” citations often comprise over 60% of moving violations written by police. “Speeding” fines generally cost 2 - 3 times more than the most prevalent causes of accidents – inattention and failure to yield. Over 90% of speed limits are seriously underposted.

These unreasonably low limits actually result in more collisions, while manufacturing “criminals” out of reasonable and safe drivers. In short, people’s freedom, justice and safety are sacrificed to provide government and corporate profits.

Doubling down on enforcement of too-low limits, Speed Trap Bill SB 607 will increase government and corporate profits at the expense of Pennsylvania drivers.

Tell your Representative to vote NO on Speed Trap Bill SB 607. Thank you.
