Tredyffrin Public Library presents "The Fortune of Carmen Navarro" with author Jen Bryant

This presentation of  The Fortune of Carmen Navarro is a contemporary Philadelphia story based on the popular opera "Carmen" and the novella by P. Merimee.

When a high-achieving cadet at the Valley Forge Military Academy falls for a beautiful girl who works at the local convenience store, conflict, suspense, tragedy and hope ensue. Much like West Side Story is to Romeo and Juliet, Carmen Navarro is an updated telling of the classic tale of Carmen, the wily, independent and beautiful gypsy who casts a spell on a dutiful, law-abiding soldier. This new tale unfolds against a backgrouond that Philadelphia area residents will recognize and relish.
