False Pretenses

Speed Trap Bills Sb 172 and SB 251 are to get your money, not for safety. Tell your Senator and Representative to VOTE NO

To All Taxpaying and Voting Drivers:

False pretenses. That’s what RADAR and speed camera special interests are using to sell Speed Trap Bill SB 172, authorizing speed cameras on Roosevelt Boulevard and in work zones, and Speed Trap Bill SB 251, arming municipal police with RADAR guns.

Speed cameras and RADAR guns do not add to highway safety. They only excel in stealing money from safe drivers. That’s why some in the Legislature are pushing so hard for these bills: the money. In spite of the evidence.

There are hundreds of millions of dollars to be harvested from safe drivers hidden behind the calls for “safety.” And, there is plenty of real-world evidence and data proving that speed cameras and RADAR don’t add to highway safety.

In England they found that the least safe place to be is near a speed camera.

How much more evidence is needed for our Representatives and Senators to VOTE NO on Speed Trap Bills SB 172 and SB 251? This is an election year. Write, call or email your Senator and Representative and tell them that if they want your vote this Fall they must VOTE NO on Speed Trap Bills SB 172 and SB 251. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Tom McCarey Member, National Motorists Association
