Fire Engine Damaged Responding To Call In Tredyffrin
Crews responded to an accident Monday, but ended up in a jam themselves, according to the Berwyn Fire Company.

When the Berwyn Fire Company responded to a call Monday afternoon, they probably expected a routine incident. Ironically, as the fire company was responding to a vehicle accident, a fire engine got caught in a snafu of its own.
According to the fire company, a call for a vehicle accident came in at about 3:05 p.m.
While heading to the accident scene on W. Swedesford Road and Westlakes Drive in Tredyffrin, Berwyn Engine 2-2 struck the Old Lancaster Road Bridge near the Main Line Berwyn Apartments, the fire company said.

Luckily, no one was injured and no other vehicles were involved in the minor accident with the fire engine, which appeared to be caused by an axle failure that happened before colliding with the bridge, according to the fire company.
The bridge reopened at about 5:30 p.m. after PennDOT crews inspected it per protocol.

The fire engine was towed from the scene by Tom Door's Exxon Towing and Tommy's Main Line Towing, according to the fire company.
The fire company thanked Tredyffrin and Easttown township police departments, Tredyffrin Township staff and General Insurance Agency, Inc. for assisting at the scene.
