Hopeful smart meter opt-out information
Pennsylvania id the only state with no opt-out for a smart meter (electric meter) The more Senators you contact, the better.
Hopeful smart meter opt-out information
The following letter is from a group working on favorable smart meter opt-out legislation. I am sending it in the hope that the more people who contact Senators the more chance we have of obtaining a positive outcome.
Tom McCarey
After meeting with Senators on Wednesday 3/20/19 the bipartisan bill which our group EHS.Group (https://www.ehs.group/) has been working on getting passed is quickly on the move. It is now out for co-sponsors in the Harrisburg Capital Complex. It has three prime sponsors Senator Folmer, Senator Muth and Senator Scavello. It is starting in the Senate and it is important that this week it picks up 26 cosponsors from the other senators. This is for an opt out to an old fashioned analog meter with no smart transmitters or components. It is for everyone in PA not just big business or those who can prove in PUC court that they were made sick which is an impossible hurdle to pass.
Would you please consider forwarding this important message along to your friends and family and ask them to also call the PA Senators this week? We need many phone calls even if people do not live in the district.* Senators need to be informed that this is an important matter. If so here is an outline of what I have been saying when I call and it can be used as a template for anyone who might like to follow it.
My group desperately needs these grass-roots calls for a senate win before moving on to the 5G hurdle in PA. We need at least 26 Senators to cosponsor the bill before it gets assigned a bill number because then it is too late to cosponsor. Thank you for your help with this.

Since both Senators and house members get a huge number of cosponsoring memoranda per week, and they do NOT have time to read all through them all.
So they get buried.
We have to alert the Senators to be on the lookout for the cosponsoring memorandum on this Senate smart meter opt out bill, in particular.
we all need to say to each Senator’s office, “Please be on the lookout VERY SOON for a cosponsoring memorandum for smart meter opt out by Senators Scavello, Muth and Folmer. We want you to cosponsor this Senate Bill. (It is very important for all Pennsylvanians, but especially for those who have been fighting their utilities in the PUC court, because ____________________________.” or whatever else you want to say.).

Example #2
Hello, my name is __________
May I please speak with Senator ______’s legislative aid? (if the aid is not there then leave the below message with the secretary)
The reason I am calling is regarding upcoming legislation and a bipartisan bill which is being presented within the next week or two that has three prime sponsors who are Senator Folmer, Senator Scavello, and Senator Katie Muth. It is currently out for cosponsors before being assigned a bill number and I would very much like for the senator to cosponsor this bill.
It is a smart meter opt out bill for all Pennsylvania residents. The reason this is important is because about of 41 states that have previously considered such legislation, Pennsylvania is the only state that has not passed a smart meter opt out bill.
As you may know, some previous legislation has been presented by Representative Mike Reese and it has gotten stuck in committees.
This new bill has simple language and meets the needs of all of the smart meter concerns that Pennsylvania residents currently have. It is important that Senator ______ co-sponsor this bill.
Answer to (Where do you live?): I live at ________ and I am/am not a constituent. However, I was hoping that Senator _______ would hear my opinion on this very important matter.
*(From Tom McCarey) I personally contact every Senator and Representative in Pennsylvania. Typically, Senators don’t like to talk to people who can’t vote for them. To counter that I tell the politicians that their vote affects me directly and I consider that Senator ________ represents me indirectly. I may not be able to vote for you, Senator, but neither can Exelon, Verizon, Airgas, Boscov's, Armstrong, GE, H.J.Heinz, Hershey Foods, Mack Trucks, Rohm and Haas, and any number of other special interests, yet, Senator___________ , you have time to listen to their concerns. I expect the same consideration and courtesy when I contact you about this smart meter opt-out legislation. Thank you.
