Icy Conditions To Blame For Two Collisions In Chester County

Both single-vehicle incidents happened Wednesday morning and led to the drivers being hospitalized.

TREDYFFRIN, PA —The Berwyn Fire Company said it responded to two single-vehicle collisions on Wednesday morning, both of them resulting in the hospitalization of the driver. The department said the collisions were due to icy conditions.

The first collision, according to the department, took place at 5:43 a.m. in the area of Route 202 South and Valley Forge Road in Tredyffrin Township. Berwyn EMS transported the victim of this incident to Paoli Hospital, according to authorities.

While transporting the victim at approximately 6:07 a.m., fire company officials said the ambulance happened upon a second disabled vehicle, which was turned on its side on the Route 252 Paoli off-ramp from Route 202 South.

Rescuers with Engine 2-1 and Engine 2-2, along with another ambulance, quickly responded to the second incident, Berwyn Fire Company officials said.

The second driver suffered minor injuries and needed assistance getting out of the vehicle. The driver also was transported to Paoli Hospital, according to officials.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department provided traffic control at both incidents.

No updates have been provided on the condition of the two victims. But authorities have asked drivers to use caution on the roadways.

Berwyn fire officials also said that during winter storms, salt trucks from Tredyffrin, Easttown and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will be operating on local roads, and they are asking citizens to give those vehicles extra room to operate.
