Nuclear Bailout Hearings

If you can get to Harrisburg: Agitate, agitate, agitate. They are about to sock it to us for $500 million

Nuclear Bailout Hearings

Attention electricity ratepayers in Pennsylvania: There are 4 hearings scheduled (see below) concerning the Legislature’s planned $500 million nuclear bailout to be paid for by the taxpayers. These hearings might be only window dressing to soften up the public to take the increased electric rates lying down.

A large angry mob is the only thing that will get the Legislature’s attention and spur them to protecting us, not Exelon. These hearings are typically stacked in favor of the special interests, and against the people. Don’t let them get away with that.

The PA PUC gets it annual funding by skimming off from the top 1% of the gross revenue of PA utilities. With even more coming from a tax on PA gas wells. A very small percentage of its operating budget comes from federal funds. So much for the PUC caring one whit about protecting us from the utilities.

If you can go, please make a ruckus. The special interests and politicians have run roughshod over us for far too long. Remember, this is the committee run by Rep. Godshall who stonewalled smart meter opt-out bills for 8 years, while the rest of the Consumer Affairs Committee stood by spinelessly and let it happen.
