Local chapter of One Mind works to raise funds to better treat and ultimately cure brain disease and injury & erase any mental health stigma

The brain is the most complex yet least understood organ in the human body. But 1 in 4 Americans suffer from brain disease and injury – including Alzheimer’s Disease, Autism, Depression, and Concussions to name a few – which makes for an immense public health issue and a very real crisis.
To address these concerns, the One Mind Philly committee met on Wednesday, October 15th 2014 to plans its third annual benefit, to be held on May 9th, 2015 at the Union League of Philadelphia.
One Mind Philly is the local chapter of One Mind, a national 501(c)(3) organization. Since its inception two years ago, the chapter has been so successful in raising funds and awareness for the cause that it has become the model for building regional chapters around the country for One Mind.

The goal of One Mind for Research is to deal directly and innovatively with all brain diseases and injuries together (think “American Brain Association”) to fund and coordinate data-sharing to speed up the process of lab science to treatment and cures.
Building and connecting a community of researchers, donors, and supporters also increases awareness and understanding of the widespread problem of brain disorders, whether due to illness or injury. That’s a very important part of One Mind’s ultimate mission: to cure brain diseases and eliminate the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health.
