Patrick Gately Appointed Principal At New Eagle Elementary
With New Eagle Elementary School's Principal Karen Whyte retiring, some administrators were shifted around to accommodate her exit.

BERWYN, PA –With a Tredyffrin/Easttown School District principal retiring soon, some district administrators were shifted around to accommodate her exit. At its regular meeting on June 12, the Tredyffrin/Easttown Board of School Directors took action on administrative changes for the 2017-2018 school year.
Karen Whyte, New Eagle Elementary School’s current Principal, recently announced her plan to retire at the end of this calendar year.
To replace her, the district tapped Patrick Gately as New Eagle Elementary School's principal effective January 1. Gately is the district's Curriculum Supervisor now and served as an English teacher at Valley Forge and T/E middle school, as well as Conestoga High School.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the College of Holy Cross, a Master of Education degree in English from Shippensburg University and Principal Certification from Immaculata University. Gately is pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Immaculata University.
"I am thrilled to be joining the outstanding team of teachers and staff at New Eagle Elementary School, and I am particularly excited to become apart of the caring community of students, parents and neighbors." Gately said. "The school has such a wonderful reputation for excellence, developed most recently under Karen Whyte’s leadership, and I look forward to working hard to uphold that standard."

Gately has been with the district since 2008.
Former Conestoga High School Assistant Principal Michele Staves was appointed Curriculum Supervisor to replace Gately effective November 1.
Staves previously served as Assistant Principal at Conestoga High School and T/E Middle School. Prior to her administrative roles in T/E, she taught English, reading and gifted support. Staves has been a substitute administrator at all levels for the past three years.

"I look forward to returning to TESD in my new role as a Curriculum Supervisor," she said. "I am so proud to have this opportunity to work with the eager students, enthusiastic teachers and dedicated administrators who make T/E such a wonderfully unique place for all kids to learn."
In addition, Oscar Torres’s current Curriculum Supervisor position is being reclassified to Director of State and Federal Programs. Dr. Torres will retain his curriculum supervisory responsibilities in his expanded role.
Torres joined the district 18 years ago as a Spanish teacher at Conestoga High School and has since served as Curriculum and Staff Development Supervisor of World Languages, English as a Second Language and Health/Physical Education.

Torres was also Assistant Principal at Valley Forge Middle School for four years.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, a Master of Science in Education degree in Foreign Language Education, a Master of Science in Education degree in Educational Administration and a Doctorate in Education degree in Educational Administration from Temple University.
"I am looking forward to having a greater impact on our students and partnering with parents and staff to serve the T/E school community as Director of State and Federal Programs while continuing to oversee the incredible programs that I have enjoyed leading and supervising," Torres said.
