Tredyffrin Roads Flood Monday After Heavy Rainfall

It takes just a foot of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles, the NWS says.

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA – Several roads in Tredyffrin Township flooded Monday, April 16 as rain hammered the Philadelphia area, according to township police.

Police said officers and public works crews worked to remove blockages at storm drains and placed barriers in areas that drivers should avoid.

According to the National Weather Service, flash flooding is the No. 1 weather-related death cause.

The NWS campaign to prevent flash flooding deaths in drivers says features the slogan "Turn Around, Don't Drown."

Just 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles, the NWS says.
