Rotary Club Awards $1500 Scholarship to CHS Silver Cup Winner

PMB Rotary Continues 35 Year Tradition Supporting Conestoga High School Graduating Senior

The Rotary Club of Paoli, Malvern, Berwyn presented a $1500 scholarship to Grace Lanouette, the 2018 Conestoga High School Silver Cup award winner at a recent dinner meeting held at Aronimink Golf Club. The Silver Cup prize is voted on by the entire CHS faculty and given to a graduating senior based on academic excellence, extracurricular activities and service to the school and community over a 3 year period while demonstrating integrity, a positive and caring attitude and leadership skills.

For 35 years PMB Rotary has honored annually the Class of 1924 Silver Cup winner. Grace's years at CHS clearly demonstrate why she was this year's receipient. She was an AP Scholar with Distinction and National Merit Finalist; participated in the Model UN; captained the Ethics Debate Team in her junior and senior years; participated in the Science Olympiad; was Editor of the Literary Magazine; was Captain of the track team as a junor and senior getting to the state & regional championships. During the summer has has volunteered at a local camp for children who have an incarcerated parent; also volunteering in summer mission trips to rebuild and restore houses in St. John's Island, SC.

Grace will attend Princeton University in September majoring in molecular biology with interest in economics and philosophy. She also plans to run track. Accompanying Grace that evening was ner mother Bridgette, deservedly proud of her highly accomplished, mature and well spoken daughter.
