Safer Roads in PA

Why is the Legislature pushing Speed Trap Bills SB 172 AND SB 251 when the roads are getting safer?

To All Taxpaying Drivers:

This article chronicles the improving safety on Pennsylvania’s roads. It puts the lie to the House Transportation Committee’s assertions that we need speed cameras and RADAR guns everywhere.

What all Pennsylvania state and local officials need to do is to abide by Title 75 and post speed limits at the 85th Percentile Speed, the safest speed, on every road and highway. Special interests and bureaucrats want the money that tickets generate, and tickets are easy to write when 90% of the posted limits in the state are between 8 and 16 MPH too low: that makes everybody a “speeder.”

This article needs to be read by every driver and forwarded to their Senator and Representative so they will end their drive to enact Speed Trap Bill SB 172, authorizing speed cameras on Roosevelt Boulevard and in work zones, and Speed Trap Bill SB 251, authorizing RADAR guns for municipal police. Tell your Senator and Representative to VOTE NO on SB 172 and SB 251. It is an election year. Thank you.
