Traffic light at Bridge and Rt. 30 in Berwyn has a 7 second green
For years this intersection has been mismanaged by Easttown Township
The intersection at Rt. 30/Bridge St./Old Lancaster Ave. has been a safety hazard and an inconvenience to drivers for years. Don't the township people pay attention to these things? It takes forever for the light to change, and the duration for each way across Rt. 30 is too short: traffic backs up on Old Lancaster and fasr up Howlleville Rd. if there is any traffic volume, like at rush hours; and the green for Bridge St. is 7 seconds: barely enough time for 3 cars to cross safely/legally.
By contrast, the light at Glenn Ave./Rt. 30 (Daylesford underpass) changes to green promptly when cross traffic arrives, and the green duration is sufficient for many cars to cross - if there are more cars the green lasts longer.
Easttown got many thousands of dollars from the Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) Program:

"PennDOT's ARLE Funding Program: The ARLE Funding Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Maintenance and Operations. Currently the Philadelphia Parking Authority, ...
provides the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation with quarterly deposits of revenue generated by automated red light enforcement violations..." which is blood money from the red light camera racket run in Philadelphia and Abington-steals money from safe drivers with "gotcha" tickets that have nothing to do with safety: the red light cameras exist only to raise money and should be banned in Pennsylvania. Red light cameras increase accidents, injuries, and deaths.

Easttown was supposed to upgrade traffic signals at Waterloo and Rt. 30 and also at Bridge St. So what happened to the money? When I contacted PennDOT about this they said it's up to the township to regulate signal timing, and that for some reason, the total green duration for both ways is limited. Why? It doesn't seem to be limited at Glenn Ave.
I have sent emails to township officials and have not heard a peep from them. I urge everyone who reads this, and drives in that area, to contact the township and give them what-for. As public servants, they fail dismally and don't seem to care.
