Tredyffrin Cops Promoted, Superintendent Honored For Service

Congratulations to Sgt. Tyler Moyer, Cpl. James Slavin, and Superintendent Anthony Giaimo.

Two Tredyffrin Township Police officers and the department's superintendent were honored at Monday's Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meeting.

Tyler Moyer, a 14-year law enforcement officer and 12-year veteran of the TTPD, was promoted to his present rank of Sergeant from the position of Corporal (Patrol Operations), the township said.

Sgt. Moyer is a 1997 graduate of LaSalle University, 2003 graduate of the Montgomery County Police Academy, according to the township.

He is a member of the Chester County Serious Crash Assistance Team, a certified Federal Motor Carrier Enforcer and former member of the Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team (SWAT).

Fifteen-year department veteran James Slavin was promoted to his present rank of Corporal from the position of Class “A” Patrol Officer, according to the township.

Corporal Slavin is a trained Crisis Negotiator for the Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team, a field training officer, and 2010's "Officer of the Year."

The supervisors also honored TTPD Superintendent Anthony Giaimo on his coming retirement after 27 years with the department, which he announced on Feb. 1.

Giaimo rose in the department from the rank of Patrol Officer to the top job, attaining the 1995 "Officer of the Year," Class "A" Officer in 1992, Sergeant in 1996, Lieutenant in 2007, and Acting Superintendent in 2011 and named as Superintendent, after a nationwide search in 2012.

Giaimo was recently installed as the President of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates and is the Chairman and Immediate Past President of the Chester County Police Chiefs Association, the township said.

Warren Kampf, of Pennsylvania’s 157th Legislative District, Michelle Kichline of the Chester County Board of Commissioners and District Attorney Thomas Hogan of the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, and Tredyffrin BOS Chairman, Trip Lukens all gave presentations from government, while Andrew Howell, President of “Race for Peace” presented from the community, the township said.
