Tredyffrin, Easttown Getting More Than $1.22M Combined In Liquid Fuels Funds For Road, Bridge Repair: PennDOT

Tredyffrin and Easttown townships will be getting a chunk of the nearly $466.2 million in liquid fuels money from the state, bringing more than $1.2 million to the area, PennDOT announced Monday.

Tredyffrin will see $877,796.61 while Easttown is getting $345,831.38, according to PennDOT.

The funds are to be used for municipalities to maintain roads and bridges.

Tredyffrin Township maintains 106.72 miles of road while Easttown Township maintains 48 miles of road, PennDOT said.

"The funds received through liquid fuels payments are critical to the preservation and improvement of our vast network of locally maintained roads," PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards said in a statement. “They are essential to communities for the upkeep of these vital connections to the state highway and bridge network.”

To be counted as eligible for liquid fuels, a roadway must be formally adopted as a public street by the municipality, meet certain dimension requirements, and be able to safely accommodate vehicles driving at least 15 mph, PennDOT said.

This distribution marks a $20.9 million increase over the $445.3 million distributed in 2016. In 2013, before Act 89 was enacted, municipalities received $320.8 million in liquid fuels payments, PennDOT said.
