Tredyffrin Library Hosting Eclipse Viewing Party

The 2017 solar eclipse is nearly here and your family is invited to watch it at the Tredyffrin Library.

STRAFFORD, PA – The Tredyffrin Public Library is inviting your family to a Family Solar Eclipse Event next week to check out the 2017 solar eclipse.

The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday Aug. 21 right as the eclipse is hitting our area.

Attendees will be able to watch a NASA live stream of the eclipse, read eclipse-related books, and of course watch the eclipse.

Earth and space scientist Jason Andre will be projecting a safe view of the eclipse through a telescope, special glasses are not required to see the projection either.

Unfortunately, the library unable to secure a grant for free eclipse-viewing glasses but they will have 50 pairs on hand for families to share.

"In an effort to provide safe viewing with as many friends as possible we will be handing out 1 pair of glasses per family at this event," the library said. "We are asking that you return the glasses after viewing to allow other families to enjoy."

Attendees will also be able to borrow pinhole viewers to safely see the eclipse.

Library officials remind the public not to look directly into the eclipse whatsoever.

The library is located at 582 Upper Gulph Road, Strafford.
