It is offered to the community through the Community Policing Unit, which seeks to provide information to the public to be informed of current crime trends and have a basic understanding of how to reduce its risk of becoming a victim.
"The academy is an excellent program to bring the community and police department closer together through mutual understanding and training," said retired officer Larry Meoli. "By participating in this program, citizens promote community involvement – which is one of the most powerful forces any law enforcement agency has in the fight against crime."
