Tredyffrin Police Present Officer, Civilian Awards

BERWYN, PA – The Tredyffrin Township Police Department presented a slew of awards to its members at a recent awards ceremony in the township. Officers were awarded for responses to critical incidents, making arrests in high profile cases, department milestones, and more.

Here are the incidents that garnered awards for officers, as well as civilians, who went above and beyond:

• Lifesaving, Sept. 22, 2016. Awardees: Sgt. Brian Hughes, Sgt. (Cpl.) Tyler Moyer, Ofc. Neil
  Jackson; Civilian - Mr. Shawn Johnson.
• Bank robbery arrests, Oct. 17, 2016 at Wells Fargo Bank, 24 E. Lancaster Ave., Paoli. Awardees: Supt. Anthony Giaimo III; Sgt. Kevin Moore; Det. Michael Carsello; Det. James Konieczny; Ofc. Rhonda Carroll; and Ofc. Michael Spirito; Ofc. Neil Jackson; Ofc. Malason - Easttown Township Police Department; S.A. AJ Pelczar - FBI.
• Burglary arrest, May 5, 2016 at 826 Dresher Way. Awardees: Cpl. (Ofc.) James Slavin; Sgt. Ed Spiller; Sgt. Michelle Major; Ofc. Rhonda Carroll; Ofc. Chris Fanizzi; Ofc. Stephen Galletta; Ofc. Samantha Acker; Det. Michael Carsello; Det. Robert Bostick; Deputy Daniel McCole (Chester County Sheriffs); Sgt. George Hill of Willistown Police Department.
• Lifesaving, Jan. 5, 2016 at Remax Main Line Realtors, 49 E. Lancaster Avenue East Golf Club Lane. Awardees: Ofc. Rhonda Carroll; Mary Gregger (civilian/co-worker); Elizabeth Newcombe (civilian/coworker); Victim Cathy Jones.

• Suspicious Package Investigation/Arrest-5lbs marijuana, Nov. 5, 2016 on the 1300 block of Summerhill Drive. Awardees: Cpl. Slavin; Cpl. Costa; Det. Bostick; Ofc. Cermignano.
• Lifesaving, May 29, 2016 at Paoli Spa and Nails. Awardees: Cpl. Molineux; Ofc. Meoli; victim William Mest and wife Leslie Collins.

• Lifesaving, Oct. 22, 2016 at Outback Steakhouse. Awardees: Cpl. Costa; Civilian Jessica Forcine; victim Sharon Demas.

• Lifesaving, Oct. 31 on the 300 block of Paoli Woods. Awardees: Ofc. Czaplicki.

• Lifesaving/Act 64 Arrest, Nov. 25, 2016 on the 2000 block of Georgetown Road. Awardees: Cpl. (Ofc.) Slavin; Ofc. Acker; Sgt. Spiller; Sgt. Major; Cpl. Costa; Cpl. Dori; Ofc. Maugle.
  
• Lifesaving, Oct. 6, 2016 at Hot Tubs of S.E Pennsylvania and Wilmington, 1714 Lancaster Ave. Awardee: Cpl. Dori; Civilian Grant Ziegler; victim Doug Gilmore.
• Lifesaving, March 18, 2016 on the 200 block of Radcliffe Road. Awardees: Ofc. Gasparo; Ofc. Middleton; Michael and Julia Bonelli; victim’s wife Dana Navaline present.
• Credit card skimmer arrest, Oct. 13, 2016 at Paoli Mobil, 100 Lancaster Ave. Awardees: Officer Jackson; Det. Bostick; Det. McFadden; Sgt. Hughes; Det. Carsello; Sgt. Moyer.
• Lifesaving, Oct. 14, 2016 on the 300 block of Paoli Woods. Awardees: Officer Thomas Spurlock.

Thirteen members of the department were honored for milestones with the department as well:

• 30 Years - Sgt. Ed Spiller
• 25 Years - Sgt. Bereda, Sgt. Hughes, Det. McFadden
• 20 Years - Det. Carsello, Cpl. Reynolds
• 15 Years - Cpl. Dori, Cpl. Molineuz, Cpl. Slavin, Ofc. Acker, Ofc. Butler, Ofc. Harhut
• 10 Years - Ofc. Spirito

Also, 13 officers were awarded for perfect attendance in 2016:

Not only did officers in the police department get awards, Tredyffrin Township administration earned recognition from the Tredyffrin Township Police Association. Awardees were Township Manager William Martin and Assistant Manger Matthew Baumann; Township Finance Director Joseph DiRocco; Public Works Director Gary Bernhard; and Det. Michael Carsello.
