Wayne Condo Fire Sends 1 To Hospital: Fire Officials
The Berwyn Fire Company said fire alarms in a Wayne condominium alerted residents to a fire, helping them safely exit the home.

WAYNE, PA – Smoke alarms are being credited for residents avoiding injury or death after a Wayne condominium complex caught fire Wednesday.
According to the Berwyn Fire Company, a fire broke out in the Glenhardie Complex on the 100 block of Drummers Lane in Wayne at about 8:02 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Fire crews from Berwyn, Radnor, Valley Forge, King of Prussia, Newtown Square, Paoli, East Whiteland, and Kimberton fire crews responded to the scene after a fire alarm went off in the condo.

Tredyffrin Police evacuated residents from the first and second floor units in the condominium complex. One resident was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, the fire company said.
The American Red Cross provided temporary housing and other needs of residents displaced by the fire, according to the fire company.

Responders had to cut a ventilation hole in the roof to remove heat and smoke from the structure, the Berwyn Fire Company said.
Crews had the fire under control by 8:42 a.m. and the Chester County Fire Marshal ruled the fire accidental with about $300,000 damage incurred.
