You want highway safety? Speed cameras and RADAR don’t improve safety. They only take pictures, make speed traps easy, and steal money from safe drivers. Period.

Driver behavior is not altered by speed cameras or RADAR, or even the posted limit. 85% of people drive at a speed they feel safe. That speed is the proper speed limit, and the safest speed for that roadway. Not some fantasy of “slower is safer” which it is not.

Limits posted too-slow make it easy to issue tickets via speed cameras and RADAR. Misinformation about speed limits allows the for-profit traffic enforcement racket to prosper. At your expense. And at the expense of true highway safety.

The for-profit traffic enforcement industry know that you have to drive, and they know that you are unaware of how speed limits are properly set, so they get away with enforcing too-slow limits and robbing you of tens of millions of dollars. All while you are driving safety.

Their misinformation campaign is desperately pushing three bad laws: Speed Trap Bill SB 172, putting speed cameras in work zones and on Roosevelt Boulevard in a bogus “pilot program” that they will make permanent and state-wide; Speed Trap Bill SB 251, giving municipal police RADAR; and the (probably illegally) amended HB 1646, a combination of the other two bills. These bills are only for the money they will steal from you. Not for safety.

If you are reading this, I guarantee you are one of the “speeders” unfairly targeted by Speed Trap Bill SB 172, Speed Trap Bill SB 251, and HB 1646.
All Pennsylvania State Legislators must VOTE NO on these Speed Trap Bills. That is, if the Legislators truly represent the interests of taxpaying drivers, and not the pocket books of the special interests. Contact your Legislators now, because this is an election year. Thank you.
