Cyber Bullying: Mean Behind The Screen

You hide behind a moniker, a screen name that shields your true identity. You make cruel, hurtful remarks, attempting to belittle someone, not ever knowing what effects they will have on that person. You think you are acting fearless, saying what you think needs to be said. Oh brave you. You're so strong.  Not. You are a coward...in the worst way. 

The Internet has provided bullies a whole new way to thrive...but in a way that validates their cowardice to a whole new level. They can now hide (to a degree) behind screens, never having to show their true ugly.

They don't have the real courage to stand up for what they believe in...for they lack morals & principles altogether...so they use the mask of an avatar to portray their "emotions."

See, like all bullies, they were never provided the skills & tools needed to adequately emote. Perhaps they were never shown love so they, themselves, don't know how to love. My favorite quote on this subject (and one that I share often with my son) is that, "hurt people hurt people." Truth.

While not an excuse (ignorance never is,) we must pity these "people" for being so pathetically inadequate and, in turn, treat them with kindness. Pray for them that they find peace within. 

Insecurity & jealousy show it's ugly in crazy, irrational ways. Incomprehensible ways. And while we can't relate to acting out in such vile, vitriolic ways, it's helpful to have compassion for those less fortunate. Understand that bullies come from a place of such deep pain. Whereas you are love and loved. 

Rise above the hatred...be strong and be the beacon of light and love that you know you already are...and that they so desperately yearn to be.
