Eight SHINE Award Winners Recognized By UDHS
The eight students were awarded for their Selflessness, Humility, Integrity, Nobility and Empathy.

On Wednesday, June 6, the second SHINE Awards reception was held at to honor students exemplifying consistent, outstanding character. These students were nominated by UDHS staff members, then unanimously approved by the entire staff, as young people who regularly exhibit Selflessness, Humility, Integrity, Nobility and Empathy.
Each student was honored at the reception with words of praise shared by his or her teachers and counselors. Family members joined in the celebration, in addition to Superintendent Dr. Michael Pladus, several members of the School Board of Directors and Principal Dr. Charles Rittenhouse. The event was well-received and plans are in place for SHINE Award presentations in future years.

The award-winners for exemplary character are: Casey O’Neill, Brigid Peyton, Alan Yang, Derek Jones, Laynie Dratch, Dazja David, David Hitchings and Jennifer Cullen.
