Manorlu Celebrates the Return of Diving Boards
Manorlu Swim Club is celebrating the return of two long standing icons.

From Manorlu Swim Club:
At the beginning of the 2011 season, Manorlu had a dilemma. It was determined that the club’s two sixteen foot spring boards needed to be refinished and because no local companies specialize in refinishing diving boards, they would need to be sent to a company in Utah! The refinishing and shipping brought a hefty price tag. “We couldn’t believe the expense we were facing, and we didn’t want to accept the alternative of just taking them out of service,” said one member.
Although the initial reaction to the price tag of refinishing two diving boards was shocking, it became a priority. At the start of last summer, the club’s swim and dive team, the Megaducks, rallied around the idea of raising the funds necessary for refinishing. “The kids really got excited about coming together to help!” said one Megaduck mom. And the idea of the Megaduck Marathon was born. The swimmers and divers on the team swam continuously for an hour and parent volunteers helped the kids count laps. After the marathon, kids collected pledge money for the number of laps swum. “I was really proud of them all!” said another momma duck.

While preparations were being made for the Megaduck Marathon, the team was offered a generous donation by an involved member. “I was truly touched by the generosity,” said a Manorlu representative. “The cost of refinishing was significant and without the donation, it would have taken at least another year to reach the goal.”
Last week, almost nine months later, the team has received great news – the boards are home! They are ready to be installed and will be fully operational when the pool opens in May.
