Temple Sinai Players to Premiere 'Seussical' Musical This Week
The theatrical troupe will put on five family-friendly shows at Temple Sinai.
The Temple Sinai Players will present their 9th Annual Family Musical this week, with five showings of "Seussical the Musical."
According to a release by the troupe, Seussical the Musical debuted on Broadway in 2000. Based on the famous books of Dr. Seuss, the Seussical story centers on Horton the elephant, and his endeavors to protect the people of Who-ville, who live on a tiny speck of dust. It also features characters from many other Seuss books, including the Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, JoJo, Mayzie LaBird, and the Sour Kangaroo.
According to the release, one very special character is Yurtle the Turtle, played by Jay Silver – ironically Jay is also the Fish Expert at George’s Dreshertown Shop ‘n Bag, a sponsor of the production.
Seussical will be The Temple Sinai Player’s ninth production. Last year’s successful production of Annie earned the Players first place in a national competition for best theater production. With a cast and crew of well over 100 participants, the troupe expects all shows to be sellouts.
As one of the premier conservative synagogues in the Philadelphia region, and a vital part of the Upper Dublin community, Temple Sinai is dedicated to inspiring an appreciation for contemporary Jewish life, the release says. The Temple Sinai Players combine gifted talent and novice performers' work together, from ensemble players to leading roles, directors, choreographers, musicians and more behind the scenes.
All shows will take place at Temple Sinai and seating for shows will be done on a reserve basis. There will be five performances: Wednesday Feb. 22, Thursday Feb. 23, and Saturday Feb. 25 at 7:30 PM, Sunday Feb. 26 two shows at 1 and 6 PM.
