UD Sports: Softball Holds Off Cheltenham

A two-run homer by Sarah Rosenbaum and hustle by Ashleigh Sharp lead the Lady Cardinals to their first league win of the season.

The Upper Dublin softball team earned their first league-win of the season with a 7-6 victory over the Cheltenham Lady Panthers on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Cardinals struck fast and early, knocking in two runs in the first inning, two runs in the second and three runs in the fourth. Upper Dublin junior Ashleigh Sharp went 3 for 4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored, and Sarah Rosenbaum knocked in a two-run homer in the third inning.

On the pitching side, Kristen Ganderton struck out six batters over seven innings, and allowed only three earned runs while shutting down a late rally attempt by Cheltenham.

The win puts the Lady Cardinals at 2-2 on the season, and 1-0 in league play.
