UDHS Senior Organizes a Colorful Culminating Project
OCT 29 Color Run/Walk will raise funds to fight pediatric cancer

Upper Dublin High School senior Brandon Satz was faced with a dilemma: he wanted to undertake a Senior Culminating Project that would have a significant impact on those in need and would engage the community. He was also looking for a project that was innovative and fresh. His solution? He organized the Oct. 29, 2016, Color Run/Walk to raise funds to fight pediatric cancer.
As a participant in the high school’s MiniTHON, he was well aware of the need for funding to help children and families dealing with pediatric cancer. Proceeds from Color Run will supplement the fundraising efforts of UDHS’s 2016 MiniTHON. Color Run/Walk is a unique and separate event.
Satz liked the idea of the Color Run because it emphasizes fun over competition and will benefit a worthy cause. Participants begin the race wearing white t-shirts and are sprinkled with non-toxic color powder as they approach color stations positioned throughout the course. By the time they approach the finish line, participants and their t-shirts have been transformed from plain to vibrant.

The Link between Color Run/Walk and MiniTHON
In 2015, UDHS’s MiniTHON raised more than $27,000 for Four Diamonds, which assists patients at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital who have been diagnosed with cancer. After more than doubling its previous year’s total in 2015, the bar is set high for the 2016 MiniTHON, which is scheduled for Nov.19, 2016. Strong participation in the Oct. 29, 2015, Color Run will help UDHS exceed its 2015 MiniTHON total and assist countless patients and families.
