Upper Dublin High School has selected their fifth group of inductees for the UDHS Athletic Hall of Fame. After a rigorous nomination and selection process, Athletic Director Hope Donnell and Principal Charles Rittenhouse proudly announced the selection of six former athletes, one former coach, and one team who will all be formally inducted March 10, 2012 into the Upper Dublin High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

This year‟s “class” represents five decades of UDHS athletics from the 1960‟s through the 2000‟s, covering nine different sports including basketball, baseball, cross country, field hockey, football, tennis, softball, swimming, and track and field.

Hope Donnell, chairperson for the Hall of Fame Committee, commented, “Upon notification each inductee was thrilled, honored and humbled at being chosen as such an integral part of UD's athletic history.”

The 2012 induction class includes former student-athletes Dick Snyder, Class of 1963, Dorn Taylor '75, Greg Whorral '83, Leah Conte '97, Kristy Heyser '97, and Lori Eberwein, Class of 2000. Also selected was legendary women‟s swimming coach Elaine Panichello (Johnson) and the 1979 Girls PIAA State Championship Track and Field Team, including Kim Gallagher, Beth Good, Jewel Herder, Elaina Ryder, Kathy Seitz and coach Jack Fuery.

Speaking about the nomination and selection process, Principal Rittenhouse added, “Despite this being the fifth group of inductees for the Hall of Fame, we still received so many worthy nominations that the committee had some very difficult decisions to make. This group shows the depth of athletic talent that UD has enjoyed, and it was exciting getting to know the stories behind these gifted athletes.”

This year‟s Hall of Famers will be honored at a banquet and formal induction ceremony on Saturday March 10th, and a plaque commemorating their accomplishments will be added to the “Athletic Wall of Fame” located in the main lobby of the new high school‟s Athletic Complex. The evening will begin with the unveiling of the plaques in the A-Plex Lobby from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM followed by the Awards Dinner and Induction Ceremony.

The dinner, followed by the ceremony, begins at 6:35 PM and will be held in the new high school cafeteria. Tickets for the event are priced at $35 per person. Anyone interested in attending can make reservations by calling the high school athletic office at 215-643-8900 ext. 2022. The deadline for making reservations is March 5, 2012.
