On the weekend of May 20, the Upper Dublin Junior Classical League Latin Club participated in the 60th annual  PAJCL  State Convention-Competition, held at Penn State University. The club competed well over three days, earning a second-place trophy for the fifth consecutive year in the PAJCL competition.

Under the guidance of Mary Jane Koons, and with the assistance of Tina Moller, SRMS Latin; Al Dell’Angelo, UDHS guidance; and Greg Landry, UD parent; 48 Latin students engaged in rigorous competition with more than 550 high school Latin students from across the state.

Individual students won 81 awards, including numerous first-place finishes, in various categories under the umbrellas of creative arts, graphic arts and academics. The state T-shirt, which reflected this year’s NJCL theme, “Bene legere, saecla vincere” ("To read well is to conquer the ages") was designed by Upper Dublin's Diana Wu.

The club's scrapbook, created by Julie Hu and Jenny Park, also took first place for design. In conclusion to a spectacular convention, Peter Moller and Berenice Leung were elected president and secretary of the PAJCL, respectively, and will serve on the executive board for the 2011-2012 school year.
