Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company wins Exelon’s ENERGY for the COMMUNITY award!

WGVFC Chief receives Exelon's Energy for the Community Award

Exelon has a strong tradition of involvement in communities that they serve and work. To that end, each year they recognize employee volunteerism by awarding a total of $140,000 in grants to 14 organizations around the country. These grants honor employees who understand the meaning of giving back to the community.

Chief Brian Focht, on behalf of the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company was selected from a pool of Exelon employees from around the country for their annual ENERGY for the COMMUNITY Award. The fire company is fortunate to have two Exelon employees in our ranks; Chief Focht a PECO Senior Training Specialist and Battalion Chief Brandon Lee a PECO Senior Distribution Mechanic.

On May 9,2013 Exelon presented a check for $10,000 and a commemorative plaque to Chief Focht. On hand for the presentation from the Fire Company  were, Chief Focht, Battalion Chief Lee, Deputy Chief Lee Perlmutter, Vice-President Frank Kibler, Treasurer Rich Drennen, Director of Property Jim Lee Sr. and Jr. firefighter Tim Focht. Chief Focht said that this is the first year for the Company or himself to apply for this award, and he was pleasantly surprised when he got the call that the Fire Company was selected to receive the award. The requirements were that the employee volunteers at least 50 hours of community service in 2012 and prepare a narrative detailing the volunteer hours along with a funding need.
