Deadbeat Dozen: Willow Grove Man Among 12 Parents Owing $50K In Child Support, Sheriff Says

Twelve parents were arrested by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies on June 27 during an overnight sweep of "deadbeat" fathers and mothers, the office announced in a press release.

The individuals were accused of failing to pay child support or show up for domestic relations hearings, the office said.

The parents collectively owed $50,534.53 in child support arrearages for 20 children. Two defendants resisted arrest, but were taken into custody without incident.

“Other than encountering a big flea infestation, the raid was completed successfully and safely,” said Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny. “We will continue to advocate for the children of the county by continuing these sweeps, and hopefully encourage parents to resolve their cases before they are arrested.”

The following defendants are in custody, and are awaiting a hearing:

• Lionel Hampton, Jr. of 106 Everett Ave., Willow Grove, Pa., owes $4,439.20 for one child.
• Lara Catania of 612 Valley Glen Rd., Elkins Park, Pa., owes $4,357.55 for two children.
• Justin Thorton of 629 Bethlehem Pike, Glenside, Pa., owes $579.39 for one child.
• Gregory Mercer of 617 Woodland Ave., Cheltenham, Pa., owes $502.56 for one child.
• Michael DiPaul of 390 Stoneybrook Rd., King of Prussia, Pa., owes $2,627.38 for one child.
• Ricky Albertson of 193 Oberholtzer Rd., Gilbertsville, Pa., owes $3,999.21 for two children.
• Stephen Cillo of 6 N. Hanover St., Pottstown, Pa., owes $3,860.72 for two children.
• Keith Martin of 619 Manatawny St., Pottstown, Pa., owes $3,910.60 for three children.
• Zachary Delay of 222 S. Hanover St., Pottstown, Pa., owes $10,568.77 for three children.
• Paul Cartwright of 417 Glasgow St., Apt. 1, Pottstown, Pa., owes $660.72 for two children.
• Aaron Douglas of 301 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, Pa., owes $4,658.48 for one child.
• Stephan Howard of 554 Walnut St., Pottstown, Pa., owes $10,369.95 for one child.
