Why go: The Women-Owned Business Network is for women who are and who aspire to be entrepreneurs. The group provides practical information and resources to start, grow or sustain a successful business. The meetings are held on selected Wednesdays. Bring your own meal, or buy one from the college’s snack bar. The meetings begin with networking, followed by a workshop.

Why go: The community college invites the public to attend a career fair, featuring up to 20 area businesses and organizations looking to recruit part-time, full-time, temporary and seasonal employment, as well as internships.

Why go: Meet Me in St. Louis. In the year before the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, the four Smith daughters learn lessons of life and love, even as they prepare for a reluctant move to New York.

Why go: Lark and Termite by Jayne Anne Phillips. Set against the backdrop of the Korean War in the 1950s, a novel about family, the repercussions of war, and the bonds that sustain relationships focuses on a single family—Lark, her brother Termite, their mother Lola, and Termite's soldier father, Robert Leavitt.
