Breaking: A retirement community in Huntingdon Valley was evacuated Wednesday night following a fire.

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — A fire at a retirement community in Huntingdon Valley led to evacuations on Wednesday night.

The incident was first reported before 10 p.m. at Manor Care Health Services, which is located on the 3400 block of Huntingdon Pike.

Eyewitnesses report that the building has been evacuated and residents had gathered outside of the facility.

It's not yet clear if there are any injuries, or what caused the fire.

Sources state that the fire began at an air conditioner in the dementia unit, which is on the second floor fo the building.

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company No. 1 responded to the scene along with units from neighboring municipalities.

By 10:30 p.m. authorities said that the blaze had been contained.

Around 25 residents were relocated to a different Manor Care facility following the fire, according to sources.
