Man Arrested for Endangering Other Drivers, Charged with DUI

Robert Lick Jr. allegedly drove into opposing traffic lanes, using the shoulder to pass other vehicles before striking a parked vehicle, police say.

An Allentown man is charged with three counts of recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence and reckless and careless driving after recklessly weaving through traffic before hitting a parked vehicle, Upper Saucon police say.

Robert Lick Jr., 28, speaking with officers, smelled strongly of alcohol, had trouble with understanding direction and balancing, and failed sobriety tests, police say.

, responding to an accident, found two vehicles blocking both lanes of traffic on Route 309 North near the 6000 block of Main Street in on April 29, according to the criminal complaint.

Larry Szukics, a witness, told officers that Lick had passed him, going against traffic on N. Main Street. Hennig Eichenbaum, a second witness, claimed he avoided Lick, who had sped past him and used the highway shoulder to overtake his vehicle, police say.

Eichenbaum and Szukics told officers they heard Lick strike the parked vehicle.

Lick was released on his own recognizance and a preliminary hearing is scheduled July 30.

The criminal complaint did not include Lick’s blood-alcohol level.
