DeSales Dance Students perform Tensile Involvement in NYC at Hunter College's Sharing the Legacy Program
Dance Program Awarded an American Masterpiece Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
The Dance program was awarded a highly coveted $15,000 American Masterpiece grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the restaging and presentation of Tensile Involvement (1953). This is the signature work of legendary choreographer Alwin Nikolais.
Alberto Del Saz, the Artistic Director of the Murray Louis and Nikolais Dance Company as well as Co-Director of The Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance, was in residence at DeSales University for two weeks. Heset Tensile Involvement on DeSales Dance Majors offered master classes and lectures that were open to the Lehigh Valley community.
DeSales dance students performed Tensile Involvement alongside the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company at the Zoellner Arts Center, Bethlehem, Pa. Feb. 5-6, 2010; in the DeSales University Dance Ensemble Concert March 19-21, 2010 and will perform it again in NYC at Hunter College’s Sharing the Legacy program April 15-16, 2011.
