Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-78 Near Route 309

One woman was killed in a multi-vehicle accident Sunday on Interstate 78 eastbound, near Route 309, in Upper Saucon, Lehigh County First Deputy Coroner Eric Minnich confirmed.

The woman's name has not yet been released.

The roadway remained closed eastbound at 9:15 p.m. as emergency crews responded to the scene. It was expected to be closed at least another hour, according to scanner reports.

State police at Fogelsville said three vehicles, and possibly a fourth, were involved in the crash. Early reports were that at least one vehicle had rolled over and a person was trapped in the vehicle.

The accident occurred about 6 p.m.

Scanner reports indicated several additional accidents in the area of Center Valley Parkway.
