Fatal Fire Claims Resident, Several Pets in Upper Southampton Township

Ten mutual aid companies responded to Wendy Road house fire late Friday night. The victim has not been identified, fire officials said.

UPPER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —A resident and several pets were killed during a house fire on Wendy Road just before midnight Friday, fire officials said.

Southampton Fire Company No. 1 was dispatched to the home at 462 Wendy Road and encountered "a well-advanced fire" on the first and second floors, fire officials stated on the company's Facebook page.

"It was well involved when we got here,"Upper Southampton Township Fire Chief Glenn McKenney told Action News. "This was a really intense fire, I mean the conditions were untenable for even firefighters to be inside."

Crews arrived within minutes and during a search, found one person and several pets deceased, fire officials said.

The victim has not been identified and the cause of the fire has not been determined.

Action News obtained surveillance video of the fire and the flames consuming the home.

Southampton Fire Company officials thanked all mutual aid companies who responded to the fire.

They included: Feasterville Fire Company, Northampton Township Volunteer Fire Company, Warminster Fire Department, Hartsville Fire Company, Trevose Fire Company Station 4/84, Lower Southampton Fire Department No.1, Bryn Athyn Fire Company, Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad, and the Upper Southampton Township Police Department.
