March 18 Open House Showcases Early Learning Center’s Creative Curriculum at Ohev Shalom of Bucks County: Program Offers Only Local Infant Center in a Jewish Setting

Parents eager to explore innovative socialization and educational options for their young children are invited to attend the March 18 Early Learning Center (ELC) Open House & Tour, scheduled between 10 am and noon at Ohev Shalom of Bucks County (944 Second Street Pike, Richboro).

At its core, the ELC’s creative curriculum focuses on fostering the socialization and cogitative development skills of children by encouraging exploration and inquiry. Age-appropriate, hands-on learning activities are introduced through distinct ELC programs: the infant center (which starts at 12 weeks), the toddler program, the preschool program, and the kindergarten program. All programs are offered year round and provide flexible and extended hours.

“The educational staff at Ohev Shalom strives to distinguish the ELC program from typical synagogue pre-schools,” emphasized Jacquelyn Siegel , ELC’s Director. In fact, the ELC offers the area’s only infant center in a Jewish setting. A joyous exploration of Judaism is achieved through unique programs such as Hebrew Through Movement and Monday Havdalah. The curriculum is complemented by young family programming available through Ohev Shalom’s synagogue community.

Committed to ensuring the academic readiness of its students, ELC teachers provide a dynamic delivery of literacy, science, social studies, math and the arts, all taught to Pennsylvania State Standards. Small staff- to-child ratios and accommodations for students with unique learning needs create a nurturing environment where children thrive. In fact, Ohev Shalom’s ELC has been recognized as both “Best of Richboro” and a “Keystone Stars” program - a designation awarded to programs recognized for “reaching higher for quality early earning.”

Parents like Ilyssa Rabin of Newtown appreciate the ELC’s low child-to-teacher ratios and its seasoned teaching staff. “The teachers were much more experienced than those at the other programs we had visited. They are so supportive and knowledgeable,” said Rabin, whose twin 2-year old sons attend the ELC from 7 am to 5 pm during the work week. “My boys are creating projects I never expected them to be able to do at this age. They are reluctant to leave school each day. That’s how much they love it.”

The March 18 Open House is designed to showcase the ELC’s summer camp, as well as the distinct school-year programs it offers infants through kindergarten age students. “The morning will provide prospective parents with a wonderful opportunity to tour our facility and to meet the dedicated faculty who have such a positive impact on our children every day,” said Siegel.
