NOVA, community wear teal to mark National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

4th Annual Wear Teal Day is Friday, April 24.

Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) has designated Friday, April 24, as “Wear Teal Day” to raise awareness of sexual assault during National Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April…and several community organizations and businesses in Bucks County have readily agreed to do the same in support of the initiative.

Among those groups and organizations joining NOVA staff and volunteers as they outfit and accessorize themselves in teal – the color of sexual assault awareness – will be the people at United Way of Bucks County, Penn Foundation Behavioral Health, Univest, Bucks County District Attorney’s office and the Central Bucks Family YMCA.

To encourage other individuals and organizations to participate and to make it easier for them to do so, NOVA Thrift Shop has collected a wide variety of teal shirts, skirts, ties, sweaters, scarves and jewelry. Shopping for these items at NOVA Thrift, on Route 313 just above Fountainville, means people can support NOVA’s programs and services while making others more aware of the issue of sexual assault in our communities.

“We hope other companies and organizations will choose to join us and our community partners by asking their employees to wear teal,” says Barbara Clark, NOVA executive director.

NOVA welcomes photos of community and business groups in teal, which it will post on the NOVA website and on Facebook. Email jpegs to NOVAinfo@NOVABucks.org.
