Southampton Community Band Season Premiere set for Saturday
The Southampton Community Band kicks off its 14th season this weekend with a selection of music from popular films.

The Southampton Community Band’s subscription series will begin with a concert on November 19th at Klinger Middle School. and the theme of this program is “Movie Magic”.
“We have programmed a variety of popular music from several decades of film for this concert”, said Marvin Feld, the band’s principal conductor. “From Ben Hur to Harry Potter, there is a wide spectrum of music.”

Feld said selections include “An American in Paris”, a medley of Oscar winning Disney melodies, “Somewhere” from West Side Story and “Seventy Six Trombones” from The Music Man.
Two soloists are features in the program. Guest violinist, Emily Guglielmi, will perform the haunting solo from “Schindler’s List”. Emily, the wife of the band’s Director Emeritus, Gil Guglielmi, has served as concertmistress of the Warminster Symphony and is still active today as a performer. The band’s associate director, Michael Regosch, will solo the love song from the motion picture Casablanca, “As Time Goes By” on the trombone.

The band, sixty members strong, presents four concerts in their subscription series.
Tickets can be purchased at the door with a family membership to all four program costing $30. Individual concert tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.
