Southampton: Where Pianos go to Die

The New York Times recently called a trash-transfer station in Southampton one of several places where pianos go to die.

 

According to a recent article in the New York Times, it has become more cost effective to trash grandma's upright rather than trying to resell it.

Due to new technology that replaces the eighty-eight, and the excessive costs tied to moving the heaviest of instraments, more and more people are chosing to simply send their unwanted pianos to the dump.
