TruBeauty Concepts Welcomes Tabatha Coffey
TruBeauty Concepts of Southampton hosted two sessions with Tabatha Coffey yesterday. Each session included a 90 minute business presentation from Coffey, offering salon owners tips on improving their brand and encouraging business.
In the midst of celebrating their one year anniversary, Trubeauty Concepts welcomed a special guest to their HOPE (Home of Professional Education) For Beauty center on Street Road in Southampton. Tabatha Coffey, of the hit Bravo television program, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, spent the day at the school, salon, and wholesaler hybrid.
Over the course of the afternoon and evening, Coffey hosted two separate 90 minute business presentations. The first ran from 2-4 PM and closed with a 20 minute question and answer session with the famed stylist and entrepreneur.
The second event, a lengthier affair, began with an hour of cocktails. Coffey gave her presentation afterwards and followed with another Q & A session.

The price tag for the event wasn’t cheap. Those in attendance paid $250 for the first session and $300 for the longer evening affair.
Guests didn’t leave empty-handed, however. All those that paid the price of admission left with an autographed copy of Coffey's book, It’s Not Really About The Hair.

For those at the second session, the wine flowed freely and the hors d’oeuvres were plentiful.
Drawing in stylists and salon owners from all over the area, Trubeauty Concepts owner, John Philipp, estimated that the second event alone had drawn upwards of 75 people.
“She’s the golden child of the beauty industry,” said Philipp, a native of Richboro who now resides in Buckingham. “She speaks her heart and I think people really respond to it. When you think about the name of our center, HOPE, what better way to bring it to people than to bring them someone they see on national TV everyday giving them tips and pointers.”
Drawing speakers from the upper-echelons of the salon industry is just the normal order of things for Philipp.
He said in the past year they’ve invited locals to hear from the likes of Phillip Wilson, Michael O’Rourke, and Beth Minardi - just to name a few.
Philipp’s 10,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility has taken the local salon industry by storm. Catering to 4,000 salons in the tri-state area, Philipp said TruBeauty Concepts is a one-of-a-kind institution grounded in being an independent provider for advanced education.
TruBeauty invites salon owners and stylists to use their resources towards learning about all the newest products and cutting edge-techniques. Constantly offering courses geared towards the industry and all the products a salon could ever need, Phillip said TruBeauty’s distinguishing factor is its independence.
“The only companies that offer what we do are Bumble and Bumble which is owned by Estee Lauder and L’Oreal,” said Phillip. “And they all have a stake in you buying their product.”
And they also design and build salons right in the facility here in Southampton.
As for Coffey, who now resides in New Jersey, she was as excited about TruBeauty Concept’s potential as Phillip.
“It’s been a pleasure to be able to spend the day here,” said Coffey prior to her second speaking session. “The first event was amazing. I do a lot of speaking events and there’s such a great focus here on education that it’s just a pleasure to be a part of. Any chance I can get to spend time with hairdressers and do what I can to help them - it’s something I’m happy to do.”
“[Coffey] is just awesome,” said Denice Croft, who’d made the trip to TruBeauty from Ivyland. “She’s just gone about everything in her own way and has had so much success. You really have to admire that kind of nerve and independence. Getting the chance to meet her is something I never would have expected.”
TruBeauty Concepts is located at 109 Street Road in Southampton, in the same spot as the old Pollywog Farm garden store.
